We plan video podcasts alongside audio, show by show, and brief hosts for what the camera sees as well as what they say, since many of the shows a brand would choose for a host-read are now watched as well as heard. Edison Research’s podcast metrics from October 2024 found YouTube to be the most used service among Americans who listen to podcasts weekly, chosen by 31% of them, and by YouTube’s own count, given in June 2025, podcasts there reach one billion viewers a month.

Briefing for the camera

On video the host’s hands and face are part of the read. A host holding the product, opening the app on screen or using the thing on the desk gives viewers something an audio read cannot, so the product needs to arrive well before the recording. The brief gets a short extra section on what we would like the camera to show and what it should not, and on any on-screen text such as the URL or the code, which a viewer can read instead of catching it by ear.

Disclosure

Every video read we brief carries YouTube’s paid promotion setting, a spoken disclosure and an on-screen label. A sponsored video must have the setting switched on by its creator, and YouTube then puts a label in front of viewers as it begins (YouTube Help, as of October 2026), though the platform is clear that keeping within the law is still up to creators and the brands they partner with. The FTC expects the disclosure to be made within the video, in its guide Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers (November 2019), and its Endorsement Guides FAQ (as of October 2026) adds that a spoken claim calls for a disclosure that is, at the least, spoken as well.

Pricing and rights

We price each integration from the show’s own recent view history, and ask for a view guarantee where a flat fee is high relative to it. ThoughtLeaders’ guide to YouTube sponsorships, published in April 2026, sets out how these deals are priced: a flat fee, which may come with a guaranteed minimum of views or cover a bundle of videos, a rate per thousand views (CPM), or a price per view.

If the brand may want to run the read as a paid ad, we agree on the rights at booking. YouTube Creator Partnerships, the name BrandConnect has carried since March 23, 2026, lets a brand put creator videos linked to its account into its Google Ads campaigns, and, as Google Ads Help explains (as of October 2026), clearing enough rights with the creator is left to the advertiser.

A longer reading window

We judge video integrations over 90 days, because a video goes on gathering views and clicks well past its first month. Agentio’s 2026 playbook (January 2026) drew on upward of 10,000 integrations, and nearly two in five views (close to 40%) landed after a sponsored video’s first 30 days, as did 30% of clicks, which is why it too suggests 90 days. We also plan video podcasts as a run of episodes with one host, since in the same data click-through rate went up by roughly 10% for each additional integration with a creator the brand had already used.

Our article on advertising on video podcasts covers each of these points in more depth.
